Rev. Dr. Michael K. Roussell, D.Min.
Senior Pastor
My name is Michael K. Roussell. I was born in New Orleans, LA. I am married to a wonderful Woman of God ... Mary Ellen Roussell. My father's name is Norman Roussell, my mother's name is Dorothy Roussell, and my daughter is Mia Roussell. All are natives of New Orleans.
During a time of struggle in my life, God met me on my knees in the courtyard of the St. Bernard Housing Project in New Orleans, LA. At approximately 5:00 a.m., one cold November morning, I cried out "Lord Save Me." Days later, I was on a bus to Teen Challenge Ministries of Cleveland, OH. November 27, 1991, I accepted Christ into my life.
My undergraduate experience started at the University of Houston, in the year of 1978, majoring in Business Administration. Along the way, I accumulated hours at the University of New Orleans, Southern University of New Orleans, and Evangel College of Springfield, MO.
After entering the Ministry, my ministerial studies started in 1992 at Teen Challenge's Advanced Bible Training Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. In 1994, I continued in preparation for ministry at Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Ministries.
In May of 2003, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Religion/Urban Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, in Deerfield, IL. On December 15, 2006, I graduated from United Theological Seminary with a Doctorate of Ministry Degree.

Theme: I Believe in Communion
Blood of the Lamb
Read Exodus 12:7–13
From the first sin, God has made a way to cover sin and erase it from the person’s record. At their root, sin offerings involve blood sacrifice.
The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt (Exodus 12:13).
As the Israelites were preparing to leave Egypt, God made a way for them to show they were protected from the coming plague—they put fresh blood on their doorposts. To remember this event, Jewish people even today still gather to relive the night before they left Egypt.
Christians also join together in worship to remember how God provided a lamb for their salvation. We take Communion to remember how Jesus became a sin offering for the world. Anyone can ask God to put the blood of the Lamb on the doorposts of their heart. Afterwards, He will remove from them the consequences of sin and pass over them at the time of judgment.
Thought for Today: Because of Jesus’ death, we can have life.

Four years ago I accepted the challenge of evangelism chairperson for our church. One of the first programs the pastor and I developed was the Sunday morning greeter program. -
Motivating the Right Person into the Right Ministry
One of the greatest challenges for most leaders is selecting and motivating the right people into the right ministry positions in hopes of minimizing turnover and frustration. Even in the smaller church with limited personnel, it is important to coordinate people and ministry as much as possible. -
“I TRIED, BUT NO ONE EVER CALLED ME”
“I tried, but no one ever called me” are painful words for a leader who has much work to do and not enough people willing to do it. These words are painful for the person who wanted to contribute, but was never called. These are also painful words for a person who is committed to helping people connect and contribute in meaningful ways within the church.
